Biography

Effectively if a sword was in a humanoid shape, she is 40% blades by weight. With her current iteration up to version 3.6 thanks to Preacher's constant work, Vanessa has become progressively more alien. She has no real feet and just walks on swords, her arms extend and retract, her hands consist of literal knives on her fingers, and she can deploy hidden blades from every major limb. As time has gone on she has become better at functioning less like a humanoid and more like a machine composed entirely of weapons. Adopting strange movements and acrobatics to exploit her incredible flexibility and agility. Her original 1.0 design was heavily focused on being perfectly balanced as a sword should be, and in the 3.6 update she has managed to turn this into extreme levels of agility. Though some think its creepy when she walks on all fours upside down with such ease or flips to walk on her hands and attack with her legs instead.

She retains her original holo-projectors but with fixes to her proportions she is better at using this to disguise herself as humanoid, as long as no one looks too close. The projection remains flawed because the illusion is still only light and touching her will quickly reveal she's made of metal. Due to her disinterest in socialization she never learned to do much with her illusory face either and just maintains a flat expression. She prefers to use this projector to camouflage into dark corners or contort herself to look like an antennae on top of structures. She likes to watch people but every now and then when she is spotted some myth about a Diadem dinosaur made of swords pops up since no one really knows who Vanessa is.

Ever since Chevalier retired, she has taken over as the most veteran combatant of the humanoid prototypes from the original run and put some effort into honing her skills. Many voidforged still in active service to the state look to her for wisdom. Which she hates since she was never as good with words as Chevalier was.

Old bio: The everlasting push to create a warforged that looked similar enough to an organic to pass as 'not a robot' eventually culminated in a frustrated Preacher building Vanessa. She is essentially a walking illusory projector wrapped around a stuffed frame with several mana batteries to keep the illusion up for long periods of time. Touching her will render it obvious, most security systems can see through this, and anyone with any level of magical skill will spot it easily. Also her arms and legs are a little too long, forcing her to fold them in order to mimic human proportions.

Aside from the failure to create a stealthier warforged, Vanessa is actually quite sneaky. Her entire purpose being that of an illusion has given her several other abilities to hide herself or confuse others. She is a naturally talented illusionist and even though her body doesn't hold up to close inspection she often chooses to just hide in a dark corner. Alongside these abilities come with some minor psionic talents necessary to operate her illusory projectors. She was equipped with the signature mark of a Preacher creation, far too many weapons. Once unfolded, her frame has more blades than she has limbs and can operate at much higher combat capacity.

Vanessa herself is distinctly aware of the problem warforged face in public perception. Given their name, original purpose, and the number of extremely dangerous machine races discovered in the galaxy - it isn't much surprise that warforged tend to be met with awkwardness at best and outright fear at worst. Unlike Charlotte, she has taken a route of embracing the latter. When not on mission she purposefully reveals her presence, combined with a dark sense of humor she can be bad for public relations. On the upside for the voidforged, she keeps to herself for the most part and spends her time around others who are less intimidated by the walking knife drawer.
