Biography

One of the five Hassani Imperial Chancellors who rule over Sol directly beneath Empress Kanika. Sakhessa is typically known as 'the nice one' as the most progressive in mortal rights and treatment. She has two jobs for the empire. As the only volunteer, she focuses primarily on civil matters such as social security, infrastructure projects, education standards, and codifying mortal rights. Her other role is still being the genius engineer of the empire who built the massive defense network that protects the system. Every now and then she comes out of her workshop with a new technology to revolutionize the empire in some way or another. A large part of her job is just convincing the other Chancellors not to destroy massive swathes of civilian infrastructure she spent so much effort building just to spite one rebel.

This creates two polarities of her outward appearance. On the one hand, she really is the nice one to the mortals. On the other, she requires sacrifices to stay alive. With hundreds of prisoners locked to mana battery units and infected with the rot just to constantly feed her energy until the rot kills them. Somehow this became a celebrated ritual over the last two decades with younger generations in particular dragging condemned victims to her palace and installing them into the machines by force. A "priest" then afflicting them with the rot before entombing them deep underground never to be seen again. Many still are aware of the post-invasion state of Sol and how bad things were before the Hassani began the rebuilding. In order to keep their perceived shield alive they will happily sacrifice a million men to sustain their patron. It is kind of weird from the outside looking in.

Old Bio: A former conquering sorcerer queen, who accidentally destroyed her own empire as a byproduct of the spell that made her into an undead. She was a prodigy and is considered of the greatest mages in history, pioneering several spells and disciplines in times predating the discovery of how mana actually works. She shows up a lot in pandem history books as well as one of its earliest practitioners. There's just an asterisk next to her name in the history books as 'brilliant innovator, but also had some really wrong theories'. Eventually she was entombed by her own people on the verge of extinction back before they knew other civilizations existed on the other side of the desert. They found out she was the origin of the curse that was killing them all, and the human sacrifices weren't great for PR.

For thousands of years she lay dormant in the ruins of a once great empire. A group of wizards were researching the ruins since it had a lot of very interesting spells and information about magic hidden away in it. If nothing else it was fascinating to the magical community to see the history of magical development and the note-tablets of the greatest sorcerer of the time. Then one apprentice who was copying down markings opened the sarcophagus. It took thirty years, thousands of lives, and the noble sacrifice of several paladins to get her back into the damned thing. She wasn't necessarily a big threat because of her horribly outdated magic, but the disease that destroyed her empire was just as virulent as ever. She was actually quite amicable and was trying to find a wizard who could help her, but her moving around caused people to get infected and die. Eventually sending her into a depression over her own magic having become an apprentice's history lesson of outdated techniques, and also the curse causing difficulties in making contact with anyone else. So an undead depressed out of place prodigal super sorcerer meets the only wizard they can find who is immune to the plague. You can see how she started hanging out with Kanika.
