Benefits
Throughout a character's life they acquire certain benefits, little perks to being who they are. These come in many various forms; material possessions, physical aspects, or personal contacts. These various benefits are acquired by paying experience. However, you can only acquire these during initial character creation.
Contacts
It's not what you know, it's who you know. Over the years your character has acquired some important friends, the higher the level of this benefit the more useful they can be. Some low-key contacts might include someone who buys stolen goods, or businessmen who can get you good deals and early opportunity to buy prototypes. Higher end ones might be military generals or corporate executives. If it's a specific type of contact your after, ask the GM on the price of that. Otherwise, simply pick the cost you want and the general role they fill and the GM will determine how influential that person is when you call on them.
Rank 1: 5xp, A local benefit, a contact that knows his way around the area and how to get what you want there.
Rank 2: 10xp, A planetary benefit, a moving contact with some decent connections and power.
Rank 3: 20xp, A short-range contact moving around through the system on a specific plane, combat ally or smuggler perhaps.
Rank 4: 30xp, Multi-planar contact, mobile with their service and skills
Rank 5: 40xp, Long range contact of power, the leader of a mob family perhaps
Rank 6: 80xp, A contact of extreme power and influence, or extreme frequency of appearence.
Cyber
You are part synthetic, parts of you have been replaced with cybernetics whether by luxury or from some horrible accident at a younger age. Various implants give different physical enhancements. This benefit allows you to start the game with cybernetic enhancements by paying xp instead of both xp and currency. Keeping in mind it also places you as having the modifications prior to the game's beginning which means you have them even if your adventures do not occurr anywhere where you would be able to easily obtain them. Modifications are found in the equipment page. Some modifications are more expensive then this benefit allows for, you can pay the difference with your starting money (or by getting the riches benefit) to acquire the more expensive ones. Taking this benefit counts as taking the talent "cybernetic being" as well.
Rank 1: 10xp, a single modification that cost less then 2000 of your choice
Rank 2: 20xp, two modifications under 2k in value or a single modification that costs 3000 or less
Rank 3: 30xp, three modificaions
under 2k in value or a single modification worth 3k or less and one mod of under 2k
Fame
People know who you are, whether your famous or notorious. When you go places, people might just know you already. This gives various benefits depending where you are or what kind of person you're known as. Fame gives +1 to social skills per rank if recognized favorably or -1 per rank if recognized unfavorably. These bonuses only apply to those that recognize you (GM's discretion, do not put this into your ranks on your skill list).
Rank 1: 5xp, relatively known for perhaps a single deed or other.
Rank 2: 15xp, planetary celebrity, your garage band was awesome.
Rank 3: 25xp, known throughout the system far and wide by those who you might concern.
Rank 4: 50xp, people who don't care about you or your career know who you are.
Family
You've got family out there, and they're not idiots. Your family members can offer you sanctuary while on the run and the unconditional love that only a family can. The difference between this and the hindrance form is that your family is not such a liability, while still vulnerable they are less likely to get themselves into trouble that you need to bail them out of, instead you're the family hindrance that they have to save. The difference between family and "contacts" benefits is that family is a two way street, sometimes you'll need to help them as opposed to just calling in the favors your owed.
Rank 1: 5xp, small family on some planet. They might not have much but will do whatever they can to help you out.
Rank 2: 10xp, traveling family, willing to help you with limited resources with no questions asked (except your mother)
Rank 3: 25xp, Connected people, they help you because they love you and they've got the resources to do it.
Rank 4: 35xp, Your family is a mafia. They've got know-how, resources, connections, and loyalty.
Rank 5: 50xp, high business or military family. They can pull strings no one else can to keep you out of trouble.
Respect
A feature of those who lead and command. Those who have this benefit usually have followers and strong presence wherever they might go. This could range from gangsters to soldiers, but those men know you're the boss and are ready to do the job.
Rank 1: 15xp, 5-10 followers, fairly mundane allies. Good for crewmembers if you have a ship.
Rank 2: 30xp, 10-15 followers.
Rank 3: 70xp, 30-50 followers, a solid crew for your big ship or your crazy shenanigans. Alternatively they can be a team of three combat ready characters.
Riches
By good fortune or careful planning you've recently come upon a great deal of money or material wealth. Perhaps you've just been holding onto this thing for some time now and its still of good value. Those with riches have a single payload whether that be a big load of currency or a personal ship that they've been traveling in. The money is in galactic standard currency.
Rank 1: 15 xp, 1000
Rank 2: 20 xp, 1500
Rank 3: 30 xp, 3000
Rank 4: 40 xp, 4000
Rank 5: 100 xp, 8000 or a frigate
Striking
Cost: 20xp
You have a unique look, you stand out amongst the crowd. Your feature might be your attractiveness, a well toned body and a sexy jawline, or you might be fearsome with glowering eyes and a muscular figure. Features give different bonuses as well as the perception you give off to others. Ask your GM for other types of striking and bonuses that might be associated with it if you come up with your own idea.
Wealth
Wealth just doesn't go away, you can spend and spend but you've got it coming steady. Wealth sticks with the generations, unless you screw up your kids will probably inherit your wealth. It stems from a stable source of income, such as owning a business that doesn't require your presence to operate.
