Demon
A secretive sect of society, the demons that originate from the plane of Finsir (formerly known as Pandemonia) have a hard time blending into society due to the nature of their origin and history. They often fall to extremes of personality with little room for middle ground.
They are prone to magical control that pandem and arcane studies have discovered. As such they are often slaves, their personal rights are at the bottom rung of society as even inter-system politics have yet to qualify them as sentients deserving of it.
Despite the low standing, the hard life, and the possibility of randomly being forced from their homes into slavery for years-they are still powerful entities. A simple structure of classification provides idea into how strong they are, listed below.
Minor: Minor demons are of very little note, and are rarely even able to take on a demonic mask to hide what they are, demons of this category are often little more then imps or other small ones.
Lesser: The most common demon outside of their native plane, lesser demons are capable of having humanoid forms and using basic powers native to their kind but as an individual hold no more threat then an average person. Lesser demons include the likes of succubi.
Major: Harder to control but a large jump in abilities compared to lesser demons. Able to use almost all the powers of their plane and capable of resisting magical control by less skilled arcanists. Major demons outside of Finsir are usually free or in the willing employ of Drow houses. Enslaved major demons risk breaking free and are only risked when the nature of the work is too demanding for normal beings.
Greater: Uncontrollable by anyone short of an arch-mage or a very strong Pandem wielder. Greater demons can shift as they see fit almost instantaneously and live thousands of years. Few appear outside of Finsir, greater demons often act as ambassadors in their struggle for equal rights or generals in pursuit of galactic domination.
Lord: With only thirty-four in existence the demon lords are rare but easily tracked due to the emanation of their power. They can only be controlled by entire schools of wizards and even then have little chance of being brought down. The demon lords are generally considered on par with elder dragons and celestial/abyssal lords.
Some demons work as pirates and marauders to strike at their "oppressors" across the galaxy. Others hide within society and subtly disrupt the government or militaries to their benefit. A few act as demon-rights activists but in general the race has become spiteful of others and that has called for vengeance.
Drow houses have been known throughout history to use demons as allies, and with the houses in galactic power they easily accumulate demon employees with offers of rights. At least the houses that don't enslave them at least. Though demon culture often involves enslaving lower ranked demons anyways.
