Däjer

The Däjer vampires have no real known origin and it is debated if they are all really related or simply a classification of those who are on the edge of madness. Most vampires feel the need to feed on the blood of others throughout their life especially when they are weak but the Däjer are plagued by it to such a further extreme. If a Däjer does not feed once every three days they will lose themselves completely to the madness and become feral, but they are the only known bloodline that after sating their thirst can return to sanity.

The official Däjer family works with one another to help retain sanity as best they can. The Däjer have rarely participated in politics and are best suited to rogue travelers or vicious specialized soldiers. Many tend to go rogue, seeking to retain their sanity or just throwing themselves to the ecstasy of the blood rage and keeping just enough control to use it effectively so they don't kill themselves in the midst of the frenzy but they are only connected to the family through the blood they share and are not considered an official representative of the Däjer bloodline.

Däjer are the only known species that pass on their bloodline through other vampires. Instead of allowing a living humanoid to drink of their blood, they force feed or fall prey to feral vampires. The Däjer blood takes mere hours to transform a feral vampire into a Däjer, thus even though they are feared and inspire caution they are frequently requested to save a feral who was once a friend. The transformation from feral to Däjer leaves the once-again sentient as who they were before the transformation, but they lose any powers or ties to their original bloodline in the process.

The Däjer bloodline has very poor recording of their elders, and as a result no one has an idea how far back their unique bloodline dates back and they simply rely on the historical works of others. The earliest known mention of a Däjer only goes back to the Purge Era, a popular theory states they aren't the product of evolution but rather a magic-made bloodline intent on saving ferals from the purge doctrine.

Today the bloodline focuses mostly on rehabilitating ferals and keeping their family fed and in control of themselves through therapy, a tradition that started during the Dark Era. The Alnae saw the unique use in vampires, long-lived strong and generally wise creatures. However, Alnae did not want to relinquish any political power to vampires, who's ruling class could be very demanding and powerful. As a result they gave sancutary to the Däjer knowing the near-feral creatures could never threaten their political power. There were also hopes that by keeping them under their rule they could keep Alnae vampires sane if the worst should happen and force Shetou vampires to resort to madness without cure. They live poor and most of their establishments are granted by patrons within Alnae to keep them out of the civilized people's way, working as a charity and answering calls to come and assist the feral quite frequently as a whole, they will assist feral vampires of any nationality but because their facilities are sponsored by Alnae they sometimes have a hard time reaching out to other nations.
